Travel By Air - Flights to St. Lucia:

St. Lucia has two airports:  Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) (PHONE: 758/454-6355), at Vieux Fort on the southern tip of the island, is a modern airport with a long runway capable of handling wide-body jets. In the north of St. Lucia there is George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU) (PHONE: 758/452-1156) in Castries. This is a short airstrip that accommodates small, propeller-driven aircraft used for interisland and charter flights.

Aproximate flying times are 3½ hours from Miami, 4 hours from New York, and 8 hours from London. The drive from Hewanorra to Castries will take over an hour and the picturesque drive along the coastline and rainforest is a beautiful introduction to St. Lucia. Taxis are always available at the airports. If you take one, be sure to agree on the fare (and on which currency it's being quoted in) before you get in. Most hotels also offer shuttle service to and from the airport.

Cruise To St. Lucia

A cruise to St. Lucia is a popular way to visit the island. Cruise ship arrivals in 2004 were up 22.4% over 2003 and there are many accommodations available for cruise ship passengers in Castries. The port is located just a few blocks from the busy Castries Market and there are multiple duty-free shopping areas close by.
