Language: English is the official language of St. Lucia, however most Lucians also speak a French Creole language.
Currency: The currency of St. Lucia is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar which is linked to the US Dollar at the exchange rate of US$1 to EC$2.65. US Dollars are readily accepted throughout the island. There are ATMs available at banks throughout the island and credit cards are accepted at many stores, restaurants and hotels.
Electricity: St. Lucia’s electrical system is 220 volts/50 cycles (Hz). Most hotels have adapter switches for electric shavers and hair dryers. A few hotels have 110 Volt, 50Hz power supply.
Climate: St. Lucia has a tropical, humid climate with warm sunshine most of the year and cooling northeastern trade winds. The rainy season runs from June through November when you can expect sporadic heavy showers. The hottest months are June to August with temperatures averaging 86 F (30 C).
Visa Requirements: Passports are required for entry to St. Lucia, except for US and Canadian citizens who possess valid return tickets and I.D. and are staying for less than 6 months. Visas are not required where the visitor is a citizen of the USA or a Commonwealth country, or where there is agreement for exemption between the home country and St. Lucia. Since regulations change, it is advised that you check with your embassy or consulate for current entry requirements.
